Pasadena Courthouse to Host Pretrial Hearing for Man Charged in Teenager's Shooting

Pasadena resident Alexis Ibarra is scheduled to appear in a pretrial hearing on Monday, February 5, regarding charges stemming from a 2022 shooting incident that resulted in the death of a 14-year-old boy and the injury of a 20-year-old man.

Ibarra was arrested on January 19, 2022, the day after the shooting took place at the intersection of Los Robles Avenue and Eldora Road in Pasadena, and has been in custody since, with bail set at $4 million. The teenage victim, also from Pasadena, tragically succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital after being shot in the head.

The 15-year-old was a passenger in a white Toyota, which matched the description of the vehicle involved in an earlier robbery and shooting near Villa Parke on Jan. 16, 2022. Initially, detectives explored a potential link between the teenager’s shooting and the earlier robbery.

The hearing is scheduled to take place at 8:30 a.m. in Dept. F of the Pasadena Courthouse, located at 300 E. Walnut St.

Flash Flood Warning in Pasadena: Stay Informed, Stay Safe

Flash

With Pasadena under a Flash Flood Warning, it's crucial to prioritize safety by staying informed through local authorities, evacuating immediately when instructed, and avoiding floodwaters and bridges over fast-moving water.

To be prepared for any emergency, pack a to-go bag containing essentials and refer to Ready.gov/Kit for detailed recommendations.

Pasadena Withstands Nearly a Month's Worth of Rain in 24 Hours; County Declares State of Emergency

Love in the fall

On Sunday, Pasadena was hit by a significant storm, receiving 3.87 inches of rain in 24 hours, which is almost the same amount as the city's average rainfall for the entire month of January.

Despite the heavy rainfall, there were no significant incidents reported in Pasadena, unlike other areas in L.A. County.

City officials advised residents to allow extra commute time, follow emergency authorities' directions, and monitor local news and social media for updates.

Both Pasadena Unified School District and Pasadena City College campuses were open on Monday, and Friends in Deed operated bad weather shelters for people experiencing homelessness in Pasadena.

Trash collection occurred according to the regular schedule, and a flash flood warning was in effect on Sunday afternoon.
