Pasadena Braces for Storm Season: Sandbags Ready for Residents

Flash

In anticipation of the upcoming storm season, the city of Pasadena is taking necessary precautions to ensure its residents are well-prepared.

Fire Stations 37 and 38, located at 3430 E. Foothill Blvd. and 1150 Linda Vista Ave., respectively, have sand and sandbags available for pickup.

This initiative is part of the city's ongoing efforts to promote storm readiness and minimize potential damage.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to protect their properties from potential flooding.

The limit for sandbag pickup is 10 bags per resident, and the service is self-serve. However, fire personnel will be available to assist with loading when they are not responding to emergency calls.

This proactive approach by the city of Pasadena highlights its commitment to the safety and well-being of its residents.

By providing easily accessible resources, the city aims to mitigate the impact of storms and ensure a swift recovery process.

Rigorous Training Course Bolsters Pasadena Police Department's Bicycle Patrol Abilities

Patrick Hendry

The Pasadena Police Department recently completed a comprehensive three-day Basic Bicycle Patrol Course to bolster its bicycle-based law enforcement capabilities.

The course focused on rigorous physical conditioning, requiring officers to traverse up to 25 miles, including steep hills and varied terrains across the city.

The primary objective was to prepare officers for patrolling Pasadena's diverse urban and natural landscapes effectively, with a particular emphasis on the safety, education, and welfare of the city's youth.

The training initiative reflects the department's commitment to specialized training for its bicycle patrol units, aligning with the broader national trend in law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of both officers and the public they serve.
