Pasadena High School Graduation Rates Fluctuate, Overall Rate Declines
The Pasadena Unified School District reported a decrease in the city's overall high school graduation rate for the 2022-2023 school year, dropping to 84.8% from the previous year's 88.7%.
This decline was attributed to changes in legislation that allowed certain students with credit deficiencies to graduate under state minimum requirements in the previous year.
However, Marshall Fundamental, Pasadena High School, and John Muir High School each saw more than 92% of seniors graduate, standing out with higher graduation rates.
On the other hand, Rose City High School recorded the lowest graduation rate at 47.3%.
Efforts are underway to increase credit recovery opportunities for students throughout the school year, with the District expecting an increase in the graduation rate in the current school year.
Additionally, the dropout rate decreased to 7.9% from 9.1% the previous year, with measures in place to provide support and opportunities for credit recovery to ensure a further decrease in dropout rates.
Pasadena's DART/SART Team and Peace Over Violence Collaborate to Aid Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence
The Pasadena Police Departmentβs Domestic Abuse Response Team/Sexual Assault Response Team (DART/SART) has been operating in collaboration with the nonprofit Peace Over Violence to assist survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Since its establishment last year, the team has shown promising results in providing comprehensive care and support to survivors, exemplifying the synergy between law enforcement and advocacy groups.
The program aims not only to provide immediate assistance and resources but also to educate the community about sexual and domestic violence and build healthy relationships, families, and communities free from violence.
