As you step out of your homes this Friday, January 26, here's what you can expect:
Morning (5 am - 10 am)
As the sun rises, you'll notice a crisp and refreshing 48°F, perfect for a brisk walk or jog. The gentle northeasterly breeze, blowing at 3-5 mph, will carry a hint of the night's tranquility. Dress in layers, with a light jacket or sweater to ward off the morning chill.
Noon (11 am - 1 pm)
By midday, the mercury will climb to a comfortable 67°F under mostly sunny skies. The wind will be a whisper at 3 mph from the west-southwest. Embrace the warmth with a light shirt or blouse, perhaps with a cardigan for the slight breeze.
Afternoon (2 pm - 5 pm)
The afternoon will be a picture-perfect 69-70°F, with a soft southwesterly wind of 3-4 mph. Trade your cardigan for a short-sleeved shirt or top, and enjoy the sun's gentle embrace.
Evening (6 pm - 11 pm)
As the sun sets, temperatures will dip to a cool 62°F by 6 pm, then continue to descend to 57°F by 11 pm. The skies will be mostly cloudy, with a light breeze from the north or north-northeast. Slip on a sweater or light jacket for the evening stroll, and enjoy the serene, cloud-softened moonlight.
Pasadena's Annual Homeless Count Witnesses Increased Demand for Vaccines
Pasadena carried out its annual Point-In-Time Homeless Count on the night of January 23 and the morning of January 24, 2024, covering the entire city geography.
The Pasadena Police and Fire Departments aided in reaching hard-to-access areas.
The Pasadena Public Health Department and Huntington Hospital deployed vaccine strike teams during the count, witnessing an increased demand for vaccines.
The count, facilitated by the City of Pasadena's Department of Information Technology, also included those in shelters and transitional housing.
The data from this count, the results of which are expected by June 2024, will guide strategic planning for homeless services in the city.
Preparing for Kindergarten: Pasadena Launches Initiative with T2K Kits and Interactive Calendar
The City of Pasadena has introduced the 'Kindergarten, Here I Come!' campaign, a joint effort by the Pasadena Public Health Department, Pasadena Public Library, and the Office of the Young Child.
The initiative, funded by State of California General Funds, aims to equip parents and caregivers with resources and information to prepare children for kindergarten.
The campaign focuses on five key areas of development and features T2K Kits, an Interactive Countdown to Kindergarten Calendar, and a resource website.
Pasadena Students Inspired by Personal Letter from Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor
n a touching exchange, second-grade students at Willard Elementary School in Pasadena reached out to Justice Sonia Sotomayor of the U.S. Supreme Court with letters of curiosity and original artwork.
The Justice responded with a personal letter, sharing insights into her personal experiences, including her journey to becoming a Justice, her favorite color, sport, and book, and her experiences living with diabetes.
She emphasized the importance of perseverance, hard work, and the impact of role models in her own life, encouraging the students to pursue their dreams and use their talents to serve others.
LA County Average Gas Price Stagnant After Three Weeks of Decreases
Following a 20-day streak of decreases that brought the average price of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County to its lowest level since January 24, 2023, the average price held steady on Thursday at $4.539.
This is the first time in over three weeks that the average price has not decreased.
The current average price remains 4.5 cents less than one week ago, 18.2 cents lower than one month ago, and a mere half-cent above the same time last year.
