Pasadena Church Fire Under Investigation as Arson Concerns Grow
A fire at a Pasadena church is being investigated as a possible act of arson, raising concerns about the safety of religious institutions.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire, and no injuries were reported.

Pasadena Man Arrested for Alleged Machete Threat
A 50-year-old Pasadena man, Michael Goforth, was taken into custody on Friday morning for allegedly brandishing an 18-inch machete and threatening a 59-year-old man in broad daylight.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of North Catalina Avenue and was reportedly caught on video surveillance.
Goforth was found in his apartment, where he admitted to possessing the machete and allowed officers to retrieve it.
No injuries were reported, and Goforth was being held on an $80,000 bond.

Bulldogs Improve to 19-3, Trail Arcadia by Half a Game in Pacific League
The Pasadena High School Varsity boys' basketball team secured a 68-42 Pacific League victory over Burroughs on Friday, improving their record to 19-3 for the season and 8-1 in league play.
The Bulldogs are currently trailing first-place Arcadia by half a game. Jovan Jester led the team with 23 points, while Brandin Carpenter and Desmond Every contributed 11 and 9 points, respectively.
The Bulldogs will look to continue their winning streak as they host Glendale tonight at 7.
Greenland Ice Sheet Lost One-Fifth More Mass in Past Four Decades, JPL Study Reveals
A comprehensive analysis of satellite data by researchers at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, has found that the Greenland Ice Sheet has lost approximately one-fifth more ice mass in the past four decades than previously estimated.
The majority of glaciers on the landmass have retreated significantly, with icebergs falling into the ocean at an accelerating rate.
The study, published in Nature, analyzed nearly a quarter million pieces of satellite data on glacier positions from 1985 to 2022.
While this additional ice loss has had only an indirect impact on sea levels, it could hold implications for ocean circulation in the future due to the influx of fresh water to the ocean from melting icebergs.
