Over 30,000 Trainers Expected at Pokémon GO Tour Stop in Pasadena

The Pokémon GO Tour, a popular augmented reality game event, is making its first major stop in the Los Angeles area at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena on February 17th and 18th.

The event is expected to draw over 30,000 trainers from around the world, with 80% of attendees coming from out of town.

The two-day event will feature special photo opportunities with Pikachu and Eevee, life-like Pokémon habitats, exclusive merchandise, and a chance for trainers to connect with friends made through the game.

Pasadena Cracks Down on Copper Wire Thefts with $20,000 Reward

In an attempt to curb the increasing number of copper wire thefts, Pasadena officials have announced a $20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

The city has experienced a surge in thefts since November, with 45 incidents reported in the past year, resulting in approximately $50,000 in equipment and labor costs.

With 17,000 street lights in the city, the Public Works Department has reported that 360 street lights have been impacted since last January.

The city is urging residents to report any suspicious activity related to street lights.

City of Pasadena Announces 2024 Black History Month Celebrations, Featuring Diverse Programs and Events

In February, the City of Pasadena will celebrate Black History Month with a diverse range of free programs, events, and activities to recognize the accomplishments and contributions of African Americans.

Various organizations, including the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department, Pasadena Public Library, Pasadena Black History Committee, The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library, and community groups, will host a series of events throughout the month.

Pasadena's 'Books N' Cops' Program Bridges Community and Law Enforcement

The "Books N' Cops" program, a joint initiative by the Pasadena Public Library and Pasadena Police Department, aims to bring community members together for a series of educational and engaging activities.

The program includes events like crime scene investigation workshops, celebrations of women in law enforcement, and video gaming days.

Running from January through October, the initiative offers something for everyone, fostering community engagement and education.
