The Pasadena Police Department has announced a traffic safety operation for Friday, aiming to curb dangerous driving behaviors that threaten pedestrians and cyclists.

The initiative includes recommendations for safer practices by drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists.

This operation is part of a broader strategy to ensure road safety in Pasadena and is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.

Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K Anticipates 15,000 Runners in Pasadena

The Rose Bowl Half Marathon & 5K, organized by the McCourt Foundation, is set to take place in Pasadena on Sunday, January 21.

This annual event is expected to draw 15,000 participants, who will have the opportunity to run through iconic landmarks and city streets.

The event includes a half marathon course and a 5K run, with registered participants receiving an ASICS technical t-shirt and a finisher's medal upon crossing the finish line.

The McCourt Foundation, which focuses on combating neurological diseases, organizes the event, offering discounts to military, first responders, and law enforcement personnel.

Pasadena Celebrates Jackie Robinson's 105th Birthday with Commemorative Event and Exhibit

The City of Pasadena is inviting the public to celebrate the 105th birthday of Jackie Robinson, the legendary baseball player and civil rights activist, on January 31, 2024.

The event will take place at the Jackie Robinson Community Center and will feature self-guided tours of a special Jackie Robinson exhibit, which includes a Grays jersey, Negro League baseball items, historical pictures, and a model of Ebbets Field.

Members of Jackie Robinson’s family will be in attendance, and light refreshments will be served.

Following the JRCC event, attendees are invited to gather at the Jackie Robinson statue at the Rose Bowl Stadium for birthday cupcakes and free guided tours of the stadium and field.

Beethoven's 'Emperor' Performed by Award-Winning Pianist George Li with the Pasadena Symphony

On January 27, the Pasadena Symphony will be performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor," at the Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena.

The concert will be conducted by Kensho Watanabe and will feature award-winning pianist George Li, who has been praised for his "staggering technical prowess, a sense of command, and depth of expression."

The concert will also include Jessica Hunt's "Climb" and Kodály's "Dances of Galánta."

With over 140,000 residents, Pasadena is known for its rich cultural heritage and vibrant arts scene, making it the perfect location for this must-see concert of the new year.
