Pasadena Public Health Investigates Illness Outbreak Linked to Raw Oysters, Urges Caution
Pasadena Public Health Department is collaborating with Los Angeles County Department of Public Health to investigate a potential outbreak of gastrointestinal illnesses that may be associated with raw oyster consumption.
Officials advise vulnerable residents, such as young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals, to exercise caution when consuming raw oysters.
Those experiencing symptoms should take precautions to avoid spreading the illness and seek medical care if symptoms are severe.
Over 30 Teams of Volunteers Needed for Pasadena's 2024 Homeless Count
The annual Pasadena Homeless Count, conducted by the Pasadena Partnership to End Homelessness, will take place on January 23rd and 24th.
The count offers crucial data to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), helping to secure funding and plan effective services and programs.
Last year's count identified approximately 556 homeless residents in Pasadena.
Over 30 teams of volunteers will participate in this year's event, covering assigned zones in the city.
The data collected significantly impacts local efforts to address homelessness, such as the development of permanent supportive housing for elderly individuals.
Volunteers must be 18 years or older and attend an online orientation.
Improvements in the process this year include the transition from a paper survey to a mobile survey, providing more accurate geolocation and dynamic questioning based on responses.
