Pasadena Public Health Department Fights Respiratory Viruses with Updated Measures
Pasadena Public Health Department has issued updated guidelines for home isolation and protective measures to help limit exposures and prevent the spread of COVID-19, flu, and RSV.
The guidelines recommend that individuals who test positive for COVID-19, including those who are asymptomatic, stay home, mask indoors for 10 days, and avoid higher-risk individuals.
Those experiencing symptoms should seek treatment as soon as possible.
Additionally, PPHD encourages workplaces, organizations, and schools to implement more protective policies and for individuals to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and flu.
Pasadena's Snowstorm of 1949: A City Transformed by a Winter Wonderland
Seventy-five years ago, Pasadena faced an extraordinary weather event when a heavy snowstorm hit the city for three consecutive nights.
The snowfall, which reached up to a foot in some areas, transformed the city known for its sunshine and flowers into a winter wonderland.
The storm disrupted traffic along major roads and even helped police track a robber. Despite the recent chilly weather, the current conditions pale in comparison to the winter of 1949.
Final results will be revealed on Tuesday! Cast your vote!
Pasadena's JPL Faces Uncertainty as 100 Contractors Let Go Amid Federal Budget Appropriations
In Pasadena, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) has laid off 100 contractors and imposed a hiring freeze due to budget uncertainty, with the possibility of more layoffs to come.
The layoffs are a consequence of NASA's decision to slow down work on the Mars Sample Return mission program due to differences in federal budget appropriations.
JPL director Laurie Leshin communicated the potential impact of the federal budget on the Mars Sample Return mission and the lab's efforts to reduce spending to mitigate the effects of the budget uncertainty.
