Pasadena Man on Probation Arrested for Burglary and Indecent Exposure; Recidivism Rates Soar

Jorge Espinoza, a 27-year-old man on probation for burglary, was taken into custody in Pasadena for committing another burglary and indecent exposure.

The incident involved Espinoza stealing a cell phone and other items from a home and exposing himself to the resident.

His arrest sheds light on the issue of recidivism in California, where a quarter of parolees return to prison within three years.

Pasadena Landlords Face $91.85 Fee Per Unit Annually; Half of California Renters Struggle With Rent

The Pasadena Rental Housing Board decided to charge landlords an annual fee of $91.85 per rental unit to support the Rent Stabilization Department's budget.

The fee, affecting 31,316 rental units, mirrors a statewide issue, with 54% of California renters grappling with rent.

$10,000 Reward for Information on Copper Theft; 34 Incidents Since November

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors established a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals stealing copper from street lights, city stock yards, and other public sites in Pasadena.

Since November, the City of Pasadena has experienced a surge in copper theft, with approximately 34 incidents reported.

The thefts have resulted in a total of 25,900 feet of stolen wire – the equivalent of 4.9 miles of copper wire – and damage to 280 city lights.

The Pasadena Police Department encourages anyone with information to contact them at (626) 744-4501.

Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana to Close After 30 Years in Pasadena

Il Fornaio Cucina Italiana, a fine-dining establishment in Old Pasadena, will close on January 14, 2024. The restaurant, which has been a fixture in the city's shopping district for 30 years, is known for its pasta dishes and pizza.

The closure will impact dozens of workers, including longtime employees who have been with the restaurant for most of its 30 years in Pasadena.
