Bisexual LAPD Officer's Harassment Suit Dismissed by Judge Following Pasadena Incident

A lawsuit brought by a bisexual LAPD officer, Vincenzo Averaimo, against the City of Los Angeles was dismissed by a judge. Averaimo alleged that he faced harassment and retaliation due to his sexual orientation and for reporting incidents of sexual and gender harassment within the LAPD.

The lawsuit was filed following an incident in Pasadena where Averaimo was detained during a trespassing investigation.

The judge found that Averaimo had a history of complaints against him and questioned his honesty and integrity due to his delayed reporting of the Pasadena detention.

Averaimo joined the LAPD in 2007 and claimed that he was subjected to increased scrutiny and discrimination after reporting sexual harassment incidents in 2019, which eventually led to his downgrade in position, administrative transfer, and suspension.
