🌞 Good Morning, Pasadena Spotlight Subscribers! 🌞
We're kicking off the weekend with a beautiful, sunny day! Here's a breakdown of what you can expect, weather-wise, as you go about your Saturday.
Morning (5 am - 10 am) As you wake up and start your day, you'll be greeted by a brisk 46°F. The gentle north breeze will make it feel even cooler, so be sure to bundle up in your favorite sweater and scarf. By 10 am, the temperature will rise to a comfortable 57°F, and the wind will shift to the south, signaling the warmth of the day ahead.
Noon (11 am - 1 pm) Embrace the sunshine as the temperature climbs to a balmy 59°F! The southerly winds will be a light breeze, so you might want to shed that extra layer and enjoy the warmth. Don't forget your sunglasses to shield your eyes from the bright sun!
Afternoon (2 pm - 5 pm) The perfect time for a leisurely stroll or an outdoor adventure! With temperatures hovering around 59°F and a steady southerly wind of 5-6 mph, you'll feel just right in a light jacket or long-sleeved shirt. Keep an eye on the partly cloudy skies, but don't worry - the chance of rain is slim to none!
Evening (6 pm - 11 pm) As the sun sets, the temperature will gradually drop. You'll want to wear something warm and cozy as the mercury falls to 50°F by 9 pm. The southwesterly winds will be gentle, but the chill in the air will remind you that winter is still here.
Pasadena Police Investigate Theft of 86 Transformer Spades from City Facility
In a recent theft, an unidentified individual made off with roughly 86 transformer spades from the Pasadena City Yards facility.
These spades, used for electrical connections, were reported stolen on January 4th, and the Pasadena Police are currently conducting an investigation.
Anyone with information is encouraged to come forward.
Pasadena City College Expands with New Satellite Campus in Rosemead
Pasadena City College has secured the purchase of three properties in Rosemead for approximately $13.288 million, signaling its intent to establish a new satellite campus in the city.
The move reflects the college's dedication to providing accessible and high-quality education to residents across its district, with a focus on meeting the increasing demand in Rosemead.
California Sees Surge in REAL ID Holders, DMV Urges Pasadena Residents to Apply
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has reported a substantial increase in REAL ID holders in the state, with nearly 16.9 million Californians having obtained a REAL ID as of January 1, 2024.
This surge, amounting to over 120,000 more holders than the previous month, has prompted DMV Director Steve Gordon to encourage Pasadena residents to apply for their REAL ID.
He stresses the ease and speed of the application process and advises residents to obtain their REAL ID well before the federal enforcement date of May 7, 2025, which will mandate a REAL ID or other federally approved document for domestic flights and access to secure federal facilities.
Pasadena's All Saints Church to Honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with "Let Freedom Ring" Event
All Saints Church will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on January 15 with "Let Freedom Ring," a daylong community reading of his speeches and writings.
The event, held at All Saints Church, will provide an opportunity for participants to engage with Dr. King's works through reading or listening, with readings available in Spanish and English.
This annual tradition has been ongoing for the past eight years, offering a meaningful way for the community to commemorate Dr. King's legacy.
