B-2 Spirit Bomber Returns to Pasadena's Skies: A New Year's Day Tradition Resumes

Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit stealth bomber

The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber will once again grace the skies above Pasadena on New Year's Day, following a two-year absence due to an emergency landing incident in 2022.

The flyover, a cherished New Year's Day tradition since 2005, will kick off the highly anticipated playoff Rose Bowl matchup between the University of Michigan's Wolverines and the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide.

The B-2's return to the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game will mark the continuation of a long-standing relationship between the Air Force 509th Bomb Wing and the city of Pasadena, demonstrating the commitment of Team Whiteman to the American people.

Pasadena's Curiosity Rover Shares a Day on Mars: Shadow Videos Reveal the Red Planet's Daily Cycle

NASA's Curiosity Mars rover, based in Pasadena, California, captured 12 hours of Martian time in two black-and-white videos during Mars solar conjunction.

The Hazard-Avoidance Cameras captured the rover's shadow shifting across the surface of Mars, providing a unique perspective on the passage of time on the Red Planet.

The first video, taken by the front Hazcam, shows the rover's shadow shifting as the sky brightens during sunrise, while the second video, captured by the rear Hazcam, reveals the rover's right rear wheel and the shadow of its power system.

The videos illustrate the daily movement of Curiosity on Mars and offer a glimpse into the rover's daily routines.

Rose Bowl: Michigan and Alabama Restrict Game Film Viewing Over Sign-Stealing Fears

In preparation for the College Football Playoff semifinal against Michigan, the Alabama Crimson Tide have restricted their players’ game film viewing on iPads due to concerns about hacking.

Michigan is also taking similar precautions, watching film only in groups or on protected devices.

Both teams are being cautious with their equipment and films in the wake of the Wolverines’ sign-stealing allegations from earlier this season.

Close to 1,000 'White Suiter' Volunteers Devote 80,000 Hours to Rose Parade

The Pasadena Rose Parade, known for its enchanting displays and rich tradition, relies on a substantial team of volunteers called 'white suiters.' These 935 individuals dedicate around 80,000 hours of their time each year to ensure the parade runs smoothly.

Their duties encompass various aspects of the event, from behind-the-scenes preparation to overseeing float security during the post-parade exhibition.

To participate, volunteers must meet specific criteria, such as residing near Pasadena City Hall and completing assigned tasks after applying and paying dues.

Rose Bowl Preview: Can Michigan Contain Alabama's Mobile Quarterback, Jalen Milroe?

In the iconic Rose Bowl, Michigan and Alabama will face off in the College Football Playoff semifinals. Michigan, ranked No. 1 and undefeated, enters the game as favorites, while Alabama seeks its seventh national championship since 2009.

The outcome of this matchup will depend on Michigan's ability to contain Alabama's mobile quarterback, Jalen Milroe, and establish their running game with Blake Corum.

For Alabama, Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams will be critical in the running game. The potential for big plays and the coaching matchup between Jim Harbaugh and Nick Saban will also play significant roles in determining the winner.
