Mosaic Madness: Pasadena's Unsanctioned Sidewalk Repairs

Tile Art of a Stary Night

In Pasadena, local residents have recently started repairing sidewalks and curbs in a unique mosaic style.

While the city administration appreciates their community spirit, it has made it clear that these repairs are unauthorized and can potentially cause further damage to the city infrastructure.

The mosaic pieces can deteriorate over time and exacerbate the initial damage, making future authorized repairs more complex and costly.

Residents are therefore encouraged to report any curb or sidewalk problems to the city administration at (626) 744-7311 or through the Pasadena Citizen Service Center.

The city's dedicated staff is committed to maintaining the city's infrastructure and ensuring the safety and comfort of all its citizens.

Pasadena High School to Students: Respect Our Neighbors

I'm begging you.

A growing issue has emerged in the neighborhood surrounding Pasadena High School.

Homeowners living along Washington and Sierra Madre Blvd. have voiced concerns about students loitering and leaving trash on their properties during afternoon pickup times.

The situation has emphasized the delicate balance required in residential areas that also serve public institutions.

In response, the school has issued a respectful plea to its students, asking them to be mindful of their surroundings and wait for their rides on public property.

This incident underscores the impact students have on their local neighborhoods and the importance of maintaining respect and consideration for all community members.

Enhancing Water Quality: Pasadena's Arroyo Seco Water Reuse Project

Infinity

Pasadena and South Pasadena are working together on an environmental initiative, the Arroyo Seco Water Reuse Project, with the goal to improve water quality in the Lower Arroyo Seco Channel.

A public scoping meeting will take place this Thursday, December 14, from 6-8 p.m. at La Casta del Arroyo, located at 117 S. Arroyo Blvd, to discuss the potential environmental impacts of the project, as required by the California Environmental Quality Act.

The project focuses on two key locations, namely, the San Rafael Creek in Pasadena and a site downstream in South Pasadena.

Huntington Hospital Awarded Top Certification for Stroke Care

Break Free

Pasadena's Huntington Hospital has received the prestigious Comprehensive Stroke Center (CSC) Certification, a joint recognition by The Joint Commission and the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association.

This certification is specifically designed for hospitals with the capabilities to treat the most complex stroke cases.

The award followed a rigorous on-site review that evaluated the hospital's adherence to stroke-related certification standards and included on-site observations and interviews.

The achievement demonstrates Huntington Hospital's dedication to higher performance standards and its commitment to quality improvement, patient safety, and the provision of high-quality care.
