🗓️ Upcoming Local Events

Pasadena's weather today ranges from crisp in the early morning to pleasantly warm by noon and afternoon, before cooling down in the evening.

Sunrise brings partly cloudy skies, clearing up for a sunny day, with temperatures moving from 48° to 61°. A light jacket is recommended during the morning hours.

By noon and into the afternoon, we're looking at sunny skies with temperatures from 63° to 67°, suitable for light, comfortable clothing.

The evening sees clear skies and temperatures declining from 57° to 51°, warranting a light sweater or jacket.

Throughout the day, winds will be light, blowing from varying directions, adding a touch of freshness to the day.

Pasadena Powers Forward: New EV Charging Depot and Rebate Updates

Pasadena continues to lead in electric vehicle infrastructure expansion with the unveiling of a new charging station at Shopper's Lane.

This comes after the success of the Marengo Charging Plaza and the Arroyo Electric Vehicle Charging Depot.

The new depot, built by PWP through a public-private partnership, features 12 V3 Superchargers and eight PWP-branded Tritium 150-kW DC Fast-Chargers.

Furthermore, PWP announced changes to its EV rebate program beginning January 2024.

While rebates for new plug-in EVs will end, the rebate program for used EVs will continue.

Dedicated Volunteers to Count and Survey Pasadena's Homeless this Winter

Every year in the last ten days of January, volunteers in Pasadena participate in the annual Homeless Count, a census of the city's homeless population.

This year, volunteers will be out on the night of January 23rd and the morning of January 24th.

They will work in small teams, surveying assigned zones in the city. The data collected from the count is crucial for understanding the state of homelessness in Pasadena and advocating for needed community resources.

Additionally, volunteers will be distributing cold weather kits during the survey.

Pasadena PD Wraps Up Year with Final Community Event - 'Pizza with a Cop'

The Pasadena Police Department, in its ongoing initiative to foster strong community relationships, is hosting its final 'Pizza with a Cop' event of the year.

The event, taking place at Chuck E. Cheese on E. Foothill Blvd, invites residents to engage in casual conversations with local officers over pizza, cake, and drinks from 4PM to 6PM.

The police department views this event as a crucial step towards encouraging open dialogue, addressing community concerns, and building trust and mutual respect with the residents of Pasadena.

This week, Pasadena High School’s Varsity Girls Water Polo team and the Boys Basketball team will engage in several exciting matches.

The Girls Water Polo Team is all set to compete against Alhambra on Tuesday, December 12th, at 3:45 pm, followed by a match against Los Altos on Thursday, December 14th, at 3:30 pm.

Both matches will be hosted at Pasadena High School and are expected to be a spectacle of competitive sportsmanship.

On the basketball front, the boys' teams are ready to charge the courts against Burroughs High School at home on Tuesday, December 12th. The JV and Frosh/Soph teams will start at 3:45 pm, followed by the Varsity team at 5:15 pm.

On Friday, December 15th, they will head to Burbank High School for matches against their teams, with the Frosh/Soph and JV playing at 3:45 pm and the Varsity team at 6:45 pm.

Pasadena residents are encouraged to come out and cheer for these student-athletes who are showcasing not only their athletic talent but also the vivacious spirit of Pasadena.

Promoting Safer Nighttime Biking: Day One Pasadena's Bike Light Initiative

I was out exploring Köpernick and discovered this summer fest.

On December 14th, Day One Pasadena, a community-focused nonprofit, will be at Pasadena High School distributing bike lights to students who regularly commute by bike.

The initiative is part of Day One's efforts to create a safer biking environment in Pasadena and promote compliance with city laws that require bike lights for nighttime riding.

The giveaway targets the 'Biking Bulldogs', with the stipulation that only those who ride their bikes to school on the day of the distribution will be eligible, ensuring the lights are used effectively.
