Pasadena, get ready for a day that starts clear and gradually becomes cloudier.

Morning temperatures start at a cool 48°, warming up to a comfortable 66° by 10am under mostly sunny skies. Light winds from the North and North-North-East at around 8mph will set the tone for the day.

As we transition into noon, temperatures rise to a pleasant 73° under partly cloudy skies.

The afternoon continues in the same vein, with temperatures peaking at a warm 74°.

The evening brings more clouds and cooler temperatures, dropping to 57° by 11pm.

Dress in layers to best enjoy the day, starting with a light jacket in the morning, shedding layers as the day warms up, and bringing out the jackets again for the cooler, cloudy evening.

Enjoy your day, Pasadena!

Blood and Platelet Drive: American Red Cross urges Pasadena residents to contribute

In anticipation of the increased demand during the holiday travel and winter periods, the American Red Cross has initiated a blood and platelet donation drive, asking Pasadena residents to participate.

The Pasadena Blood Donation Center will be open throughout December to ensure an adequate blood supply.

Donors will have the opportunity to receive rewards including a chance to win a $1,000 Amazon.com Gift Card and a 65-inch Omni QLED Series Amazon Fire TV, courtesy of a partnership with Prime Video.

The donation center has specified operating hours and additional donation drives are scheduled at the Pasadena Armenian Church of the Nazarene.

The American Red Cross recommends that prospective donors book their appointments ahead of time through the Red Cross Blood Donor App, RedCrossBlood.org, or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

For further details, you may contact the Pasadena Blood Donation Center at (626) 449-0908.

Pasadena's Historical Preservation: A Journey Beyond Architecture

Pasadena, home to the Tongva, Gabrielino, and Kizh tribes, has over 200 historic sites and 26 historic neighborhoods.

The city's historic preservation program is among California's oldest. A new citywide historic survey project, first in 30 years, aims to broaden the perspective of historical significance beyond architecture.

An Interactive Story map lets residents share their stories, contributing to a more comprehensive record of the city's history.

Known for his extensive experience coaching Pasadena youth, Coach Ron's journey began at John Muir High School Early College Magnet in Pasadena and continued at Oregon State University.

Step into Japan's Edo Period at Huntington Library

The Huntington Library is hosting a unique event this Sunday, December 10. The event will take place at the Japanese Heritage Shoya House, a 320-year-old structure brought from Marugame, Japan.

In its heyday, the Shoya House was a central part of village life during Japan's Edo period (1603-1867), often hosting local farmers for various festivals and ceremonies.

Today, the Shoya House is located in the beautifully landscaped Japanese Garden at The Huntington and surrounded by authentic agricultural fields that echo its original era.

The event promises a range of traditional Japanese activities. Attendees will have the chance to listen to the calming sounds of Kozue Matsumoto's Koto, partake in hands-on origami sessions, and learn a few steps from a traditional Japanese folk dance.

This cultural experience is available to all visitors with general admission to The Huntington.
