Pasadena Revamps Safety Measures on Iconic Colorado Street Bridge
The Department of Public Works in Pasadena is preparing to update the Historic Preservation Commission on the progress of the Colorado Street Bridge enhancement project, a project aimed at preventing suicide-related incidents on the bridge.
After public opposition to initial designs in 2021, a new team of design and engineering professionals was brought in to propose alternative solutions.
The Commission will review the project, providing advisory comments to the City Council, which will ultimately decide the final design for the suicide-prevention measures on the iconic structure.
Huntington Health Spearheads Medication Safety Initiative in Pasadena
Pasadena's Huntington Health is proactively addressing the issue of safe medication management in its community.
The hospital's clinical pharmacist, Michelle Rose, will be delivering a comprehensive lecture as part of the Senior Care Network's Noon Hour lecture series.
The lecture will primarily cover safety practices for handling multiple medications and how to maximize the services offered by the hospital's Medication Therapy Management Clinic.
The lectures will be conducted virtually via Zoom, with a phone-in option still available. The lectures, which are free of charge, commence at 12:30 p.m. and run for about an hour, with time included for a Q&A session.
However, those interested in participating need to register in advance, which can be done online or over the phone with assistance from Huntington Health staff.
Pasadena Water and Power Leads Water Conservation Effort
Pasadena Water and Power, is spearheading a campaign to conserve water within the city.
As part of their environmental sustainability measures, they are urging residents to turn off their sprinklers during and for 48 hours after any rainfall events.
This move is part of the city's larger agenda of promoting sustainable practices and conservation.
To assist residents in achieving this, PWP has provided a list of water-saving techniques on their website, demonstrating their commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Pasadena Native Elevates Universal Language of Music in 135th Tournament of Roses
Alex P. Aghajanian, a local Pasadena resident, has grown from a boy watching the Rose Parade on Sierra Madre Boulevard to the president of the 135th Tournament of Roses.
The theme for this year, "Celebrating a World of Music: The Universal Language," reflects his passion for music and community engagement.
Aghajanian's ties to Pasadena are profound, extending from his law practice serving three generations of clients to his civic contributions in education and local youth sports.
He aims to start the New Year uniting the 50 million viewers of the Rose Parade and the audience of the Rose Bowl Game, a College Football Playoff semifinal, through the universal language of music.
Pasadena Prepares for Michigan's Landmark 21st Rose Bowl Game Against Alabama
Pasadena, California, is playing host to the Rose Bowl Game, where the Michigan Wolverines will be making their 21st appearance against Alabama Crimson Tide.
This New Year's Day game will be the first meeting since 2012 for these two teams. Standout players, Alabama's QB Jalen Milroe and Michigan's RB Blake Corum, are expected to make significant contributions.
Alabama recently upset No. 1 Georgia and outplayed undefeated Florida State, while Michigan shut out Iowa in the Big Ten title game, marking their first No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25 since 1997.
This game will be Alabama's 20th consecutive season with a bowl game and Michigan's first Rose Bowl appearance since January 2007.
