Pasadena's Oracle: Philanthropist and Billionaire Investor Charlie Munger Passes Away at 99

Pasadena mourns the loss of local billionaire investor and philanthropist, Charlie Munger, who passed away at the age of 99.

Munger was a close associate of Warren Buffett, serving as vice chairman of Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway holding company. He was a key figure in the company's growth and prosperity.

Pasadena Police, Altadena Sheriff's, and Toyota Join Forces in Fight Against Converter Theft

In an effort to combat the rising problem of catalytic converter theft, the Pasadena Police Department is partnering with Altadena Sheriff's and Toyota of Pasadena at 3600 E. Foothill Blvd., Pasadena, CA 91107 on Sunday, December 3rd.

The event, running from 8 AM - 2 PM, offers residents the opportunity to have their catalytic converters etched with unique numbers at no cost.

Concurrently, a Holiday Toy Drive will take place, and participants are encouraged to bring unwrapped toys, though it is not a requirement for the etching service.

The event is free and open to residents of Pasadena and surrounding communities, with no need for registration or appointment.

Pasadena's Pioneering Sustainability: Home Improvement Program Offers $4,000 in Free Upgrades

In a major step towards sustainability, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) has introduced the Home Improvement Program.

This offers up to $4,000 in no-cost energy and water-saving upgrades, including evaluations, product installations, and efficiency tests.

To benefit, homeowners can sign up online or over the phone, following which PWP staff will visit their homes, install free products, and provide recommendations for further improvements.

This initiative is a testament to Pasadena's commitment to a sustainable future, underscoring the city's position as a leader in environmental stewardship.

Pasadena's Youth Takes on Qui Nguyen's 'She Kills Monsters': A Rise in Local Theater Engagement

The Marshall Fundamental Drama Department in Pasadena is set to stage the acclaimed play, 'She Kills Monsters' by Qui Nguyen.

This marks a significant milestone for the drama department, indicating a rising interest in performing arts amongst local youth.

The performances are scheduled on November 30th, December 1st, and 2nd at 6 p.m., and December 2nd at 1 p.m. in the school's auditorium.

Tickets for the performances are priced at $10 for presale and $15 at the door. The relatively affordable ticket prices are part of the school's efforts to make the performing arts accessible to all.

Pasadena Rotary Club Launches $30,160 Global Grant Scholarship for Graduate Studies Abroad

The Rotary Club of Pasadena has announced a $30,160 Global Grant Scholarship for graduate students accepted in foreign universities where a qualified Rotary Club is present.

The scholarship supports coursework or research in seven areas, including peacebuilding, disease prevention, water sanitation, maternal and child health, education, community economic development, and environment.

Funded by Rotary International, District 5300, and the Pasadena Rotary Club, the scholarship requires applicants to demonstrate leadership skills, academic success, community service commitment, and alignment with Rotary's goals.

Applications are due by December 31, 2023, with the recipient announced in June.
