On Sunday, November 26, Pasadena was wrapped in a cloud cover for the majority of the day.
The temperature was rather stable, dropping to its lowest at 48 degrees early in the morning and peaking at 64 degrees in the afternoon.
Despite the cloud cover, there was no chance of rain.
The wind, maintaining a steady speed of 5 mph for most of the day, added a chill to the air.
As the evening progressed, temperatures cooled down, ending the day at 52 degrees by 11 pm.
Senior Dog Adoption Urged in Pasadena Following Owner's Tragic Demise
In Pasadena, two senior dogs, Pumpkin and Sally, are now in need of a new home after their owner was tragically killed in a car accident.
The inseparable pair, who are German shepherd mixes, have been under the care of the Pasadena Humane Society since their owner's untimely death two months ago.
The organization highlights the benefits of adopting senior pets, such as their calm demeanor and house training.
The society is hopeful that the pair, who are currently in foster care, can find a permanent home before the holiday season.
Pasadena Native Jonathan Smith Takes Helm at Michigan State
Michigan State University has enlisted the talents of coach Jonathan Smith, previously of Oregon State, to revive their football program after a challenging period under former coach Mel Tucker.
Smith, originally from Pasadena, California, has a history of leading teams to improved performance.
His tenure at Oregon State saw the team achieving eight wins in consecutive seasons for the first time in over a decade.
Smith's coaching career includes roles at Washington, Boise State, Montana, and Idaho. His contract with Oregon State, valued at $31.2 million through 2029, had six years remaining.
With Smith's departure, Oregon State's football program faces an uncertain future due to the recent departures from the Pac-12.
Smith's task at Michigan State will be significant, as the team has struggled against highly ranked opponents.
However, the Spartans have a history of success in college football under previous coaches Mark Dantonio and Nick Saban.
Pasadena's All Saints Church Spearheads Candid Conversation on Gaza Conflict
In a testament to Pasadena's dedication to peace and dialogue, All Saints Episcopal Church is set to host an in-person forum with Rabbi Heather Miller and Salam Al-Marayati, the President of the Muslim Public Affairs Council.
The event aims to cultivate respectful and diverse discussions concerning the Israel-Hamas conflict.
The church, marking its centennial year, continues to voice its concern over the escalating crisis, condemning the violence on both sides.
As part of its peace advocacy, the church initiated the #ShoesForCeasefire campaign, displaying flags to symbolize the children affected by the conflict and collecting shoes for donation post-ceasefire.
Additionally, resources are provided for the congregation to contact elected officials and contribute to Direct Aid to Gaza.
Pasadena Water and Power Offers $5,000 Scholarships in 2024 to Boost Local College Dreams
In an effort to support higher education among local high school students, Pasadena Water and Power (PWP) has announced its 2024 Academic Scholarship. The scholarship, which offers a generous $5,000 to help offset college costs, is now open for applications.
This initiative by the PWP is a testament to its commitment to the city's youth and their educational aspirations. With the increasing tuition fees and other associated costs of college, this scholarship could be a significant financial boost for many Pasadena students.
The scholarship program is open to high school seniors in the city, with the deadline for submission set for April 5, 2024. Applicants are required to submit an essay, along with their application, providing them an opportunity to showcase their academic prowess and writing skills.
Details about the scholarship and the application process can be found on the PWP's official website.
