Pasadena City Council Rejects Overpriced Bids on Two Key Projects

In a significant development, the City Council of Pasadena has rejected the bids received for two key public health projects due to budget overruns.

One project involved transforming unused space in the Public Health Building into functional workspaces, while the other aimed to upgrade the restrooms at the Pasadena Community Health Center for better accessibility.

In both cases, the bids received significantly exceeded the estimated costs, leading the City Council to reject them.

The city staff will now revise the project specifications and reduce the scope of work in a bid to attract more competitive offers in the future.

Jose Rivera Campos, accused of filing a false crime report, is due to face court on December 1 in Department N in the Pasadena Courthouse, following his claim that a $2 billion Powerball ticket was stolen from him.

Campos insists he, not Altadena resident Edwin G. Castro, bought the winning lottery ticket.

However, state officials refute Campos's allegations and uphold that Castro is the legitimate winner. Campos's lawsuit states that the ticket was stolen by "Reggie," later identified as Urachi F. Romero.

Despite numerous attempts to retrieve the ticket from Romero, Campos was unsuccessful. Castro's attorney argues there's no evidence in Campos's lawsuit detailing how Castro supposedly acquired the winning ticket.
